Inspiring Barbados Art and Craft

Discover Barbados art and craft that capture the spirit everyone enjoys about the island and take it with you wherever you want.

With beautifully hand-crafted and personally inspired pieces that keep you warmed to the Caribbean.

Driving through the country side, in the parish of St. Lucy, looking for quietly put away coves and bays and awing dramatic landscapes. You can stumble upon friendly people and quaint island jewellery, unusual Barbadian art at unexpected craft stalls.

That is exactly how we found Adrean, the first Barbados artist and craftsman we meet here-

Adrean Phillips, is a craft vendor and specialises in making island jewellery, he crafts his work from a variety of natural stones, shells and fibres.

At his stall, he also features Barbados art and craft of other Barbados artists.

Adrean’s set up is at the entrance of the road which leads to North Point and Animal Flower Cave. This is easy to find with your Barbados map at hand, don't worry, if you get lost, click here for some ideas to help you find your way.

Entering St. Lucy from the western part of the island, you can find lots of picturesque and deserted bays, little rum shops and village marts.

Travelling from the eastern side you can appreciate more stunning Barbados beaches on the right and Barbados restaurants and beach houses on your left.

The object of Adrean's stall that caught my attention was the beautiful and interesting array of shells on display.

All in favour of collecting inspiring pieces of Barbados craft will be fond of Adrean's down-to-earth “rootsy” and stimulating -island jewellery.

When we met Adrean, we were greeted with a quiet charm and confidence, a pleasantly warm and very helpful personality. Engaging in conversation and his knowledge of St. Lucy, all the while explaining some of the materials he used to create his jewellery.

See some of this Barbados jewellery in this video clip, as Adrean tells us more about the items we liked so much.

A kind hearted and creative craftsman, this is what we liked most about Adrean's stall:

  • Genuine and helpful service
  • knowledgeable about the island
  • Good artistic eye
  • The purity of his jewellery.

Mentioned in the video, Adrean's jewellery is made from Coconut, Mother Pearl shells and Hematite stone.

His jewellery is bright and inspiring of many moods.

Another good character of Adrean's jewellery is that it is subtle enough to be worn with many outfits, for both men and women.

Simply pick the one that inspires you the most, you will not regret it.

Do you remember the white and blue shell and stone bracelet in the video clip?

That is the piece I bought before continuing my Barbados island tour, I couldn’t help it, it caught my eye- and wearing it made my day!
