South and West Coast BeachesThe south and west coasts are perfect for swimming. Your seaside activities are supported by convenient access to banks, restaurants, supermarkets and other amenities. Quietly sunbathe and take a walk on your favourite of the best Barbados beaches. Behold what time of day or night you may be in for a VIP surprise of natures finest portraits on any of these beaches.
The Best West Coast Beaches (1-4 of 10):
Brighton Beach - A long stretch of beach on the west coast, a popular local choice for swimming, the waters are calm, the sea bed is smooth and soft with short breaks of rock or reefs unobtrusively interjecting it’s flow. You can find Brighton beach next to Bridgetown, and also have lunch at Weisers on the Bay.
Batts Rock Beach - A nice beach nestled in the parish of St. Michael, next to Paradise Beach. Batts Rock is a perfect beach for sunbathing, watching the sunset and picnicking. There is ample parking and a play park.
Paynes Bay - This a lively popular spot further along the west coast, just south of the world renowned Sandy Lane Hotel. Park near to the Coach House located across the road from this beach, where you can grab your favourite snacks.
Mullins Beach – Great for swimming, snorkelling, and having lunch at Suga Suga restaurant. Mullins is located south of Speightstown.

Visit the Boat Yard where you can rent equipment and sunbathe with your favourite cocktail or have lunch. Accra Beach – This fine beach has it all, this is an active beach, a favourite of the youthful-trendy crowd. I dub this the “beach of extreme convenience.” Ample parking, plenty of island shopping-nearby, restaurants and boutiques. Rent beach chairs and snorkeling equipment, make a day of it. Easily found next to the Accra Beach Hotel, Christ Church. Silver Sands Beach – A wonderful white beach, near to the very tip of the south of Barbados – lends to windsurfing and kite surfing. Situated at Inch Marlow, Christ Church.

Now for the absolute best Barbados beach of all Barbados beaches! Rated by Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous as "One of the 10 best beaches in the world." Featured in the Trinidadian soap opera Westwood Park.
Our absolute best pick!-the Crane Beach - Sand on this stretch of beach is so exquisite it can be described as “ soft pink” in colour and has also been described as “ a pretty white” when seen in certain light. Protected by steep cliffs, the Crane Beach welcomes body surfing, sunbathing and breathtaking sunsets.
East Coast Beaches
Waves off of the east coast of Barbados are quite rough and often favour surfers. While many areas are off limits for swimming because of strong currents, there are a few shallow pools that you can sit and frolic in, people who grew up in the area know where is safest.
Although we already mentioned 9 of our handpicked 10 best Barbados beaches, there are just two more we wanted to highlight.
The Best East Coast Beaches:
Bathsheba Beach and Cattlewash Beach - we thought these Barbados beaches were worth mentioning, for their astounding beauty and scenic landscape. These beaches represent miles of untouched sand.
The North Coast
The northern part of Barbados –beautiful, scenic and charming, does not facilitate sea bathing as such. Although there are many bays, caution must be highly exercised for a sudden rise in tide. In general, swimming is not recommended.
North Point in particular is extremely rocky, it features cliffs, ridges and wickedly choppy waters. Here are two short clips of the visit kris and I made to North Point.
A fun historic fact: Arawak Indians, the first inhabitants of Barbados, mainly settled along the coasts of the northern part of the island.
After a wonderful day at many of the best Barbados beaches, just around sunset, as dusk sets in, you can admire another part of this island paradise.
