The Barbados Jazz Festival 2008This festival has taken place over the last 15 years and we congratulate the organisers on keeping this musical event alive ! and budding with anticipation from year to year ... which artists will form the line up next and what will they do during their acts...big question?In 2008 the event featured more Jazz artists where in the past it featured prominent R&B performers. This year's festival had singers Erykah Badu and Vanessa Rubin to perform, along with smooth jazz pianist Bob James, alto saxman Kenny Garrett, guitarist Lee Ritenour and bass player John Patitucci. Barbados Music Awards 2008The Barbados Music Awards ceremony is rapidly becoming the islands largest musical celebration of its talent. This Barbados entertainment event was founded in 2006 by Ronnie Morris the founder and director of Timeless Barbados Inc.
The 2008 annual Barbados Music Awards kicked off on Sunday January 27th, at 7:00pm, venue: Sir Garfield Sobers Gymnasium. In the previous years the ceremony featured international Bajan super star Rhianna along with other Caribbean and Barbadian performers with international careers. This year's featured artists and nominees included: Local singers/artists-Red Plastic Bag, John King, Hal Linton, Kareen Clarke, Krosfyah, Lil' Rick, Mr. Dale and J-Co along with Caribbean artists Beenie Man and Machel Montano and many, many more artists.
