Rostrevor Hotel !

An Exciting Second Home in Barbados

Right away, start vacationing!

Arriving at Rostrevor Hotel in Barbados is exciting!

This Barbados hotel is set in the middle of St.Lawrence Gap, one of the island’s most happening spots.

Everything anyone could need to start a vacation is so close by- this trendy location gives a true definition of convenience.

It’s a one way street , the entrance lined with cobble stone sidewalks, tropical palm trees, art vendors, a mini board walk by the beach and a variety of Barbados’ finest restaurants, pubs, bistros and cafes not to mention varied Barbados night clubs.

After passing by all of the excitement St.Lawrence Gap has to offer, approaching Rostrevor Hotel in Barbados is no disappointment either.

Beautifully addressed foliage, around a contemporary, condo-type building, add colour to the predominantly white structure, towering approximately 4 stories high. The reception area, breezy and open with a definitive island style and hotel awards, welcomes you to relax while everything is being taken care of.

Noticeably, the grounds, guest suites and facilities also cater to the physically challenged, and facilitate wheelchair access.

Fully fitted and Extra Comfortable (Cool and Soothing) Barbados Accommodation

Each self-catering room is comfortably decorated, in a relaxed manner with a hint of elegance- signature lanterns against textured walls, infused with Caribbean charm.

A daily maid service, keeps the rooms very clean and each have plenty of space, accommodating of either a king size bed or two twin beds.

Currently all rooms have a breathtaking ocean view. Featuring the necessary amenities for a desirable vacation, including: ironing board and iron, safety deposit box, radio, free wireless internet, telephone, television, large vanity , private bathroom, fully equipped kitchen, in room dining set, with additional patio seating.

As one guest put it, the rooms have ... “Everything that you need and nothing that you don’t.”

Looking out to a casual sun deck and large elevated swimming pool from the ground floor suites, unobstructed views of the horizon are enjoyed from studios on the remaining three floors, and every patio is accessible through large French doors.

All rooms have ceiling fans, and all 28 ocean front studios in the newer construction are air conditioned. Those in the traditional structure are reliant on natural ventilation- the sea breeze coming through those French doors however, does the job extremely well.

The hotel is also on schedule for major renovations of some of the other blocks and will be building another 26 units, a gym, coin operated laundry and an including fully customized honeymoon suite on the top floor, equipped with a Jacuzzi.

After checking into your room you are well looked after.

Vacationing made easy

It’s no telling after a location like this that vacationing is easy, but Rostrevor Hotel makes it easier.

With easy access to neighbouring taxi services in St. Lawrence Gap, its own restaurants, and endless flexibility in the use of space and hosting many occasions.

The hotel isn’t an all-inclusive hotel in Barbados, but is certainly accommodating and can tailor an inclusive meal package as part of your accommodation for your needs.

Including meals onsite and from the gourmet restaurant next door, organised island excursions to many Barbados tourist attractions, tee-times at the Barbados Golf Club and transportation to go.

In the event of a special occasion such as an intimate island wedding, a specialised wedding planner may be appointed to assist in planning and executing every detail.

The ceremony and reception both can be hosted at the property or the secluded beach nearby.

No shortage of Eating /Dining Options

There is endless fare to choose from the many restaurants in St. Lawrence Gap and Rostrevor Hotel in Barbados also offers guests convenient dining options, hosting two restaurants, both of which are happily leased to a single company.

The Almond Tree pool bar, named in respect of the Almond tree just in front, is located at the hotel.

This dining area has the feeling of an intimate bistro, adorned with warm hues of sand dust yellow, neutral flooring and dark wood seating.

The Almond Tree pool bar serves a traditional breakfast, and figure friendly lunch – bar snacks, salads and sandwiches are available, all very , very good. The restaurant is managed by Tosh, who is a professionally trained chef.

The menu also offers a range of beverages and at anytime the bartender may throw in an island surprise- a traditional Bajan drink made with whatever local fruit is in season.

The other restaurant is Harlequin, right next door to Rostrevor Hotel and is accessible from the road side, Harlequin has a more vibrant Caribbean style setting and worldly flare, the menu – a fusion of Caribbean, English and international fare.

A Family Affair

Rostrevor Hotel is a family owned and managed hotel in Barbados, currently overseen by Robyn Gollop-Knight (the middle of three girls) born to a Vincentian mother who married to her father, who is Barbadian. Robyn is third generation management.

The hotel was purchased several years ago by her family, who saw the property and accepted it with all of its charm and grace and to this day the family has retained its original name “Rostrevor”. A name which Robyn plans to research suspecting there may be an interesting story behind it.

Following her great uncle’s death, the property was managed by Robyn’s mother who studied hospitality, and who after spending over 30 years in the industry, decided it was time to refocus.

Growing up, Robyn never thought that it would be her running the family business today, exclaiming “Not at all!” - An extreme surprise for herself to be sitting behind the manager’s desk at Rostrevor Hotel.

Explaining, "whereas my mum was fully trained and prepared for the family business, I’m afraid it was more of a learning curve for me.

Had I known this day was coming, I may have done things a little differently.”

So what was Robyn’s idea? ... “Something along other lines, I pursued general management”, a path which lead to a stimulating marketing career, moving hundreds of cases of one of Barbados’ well known rum brands. ...

When the day came for a third generation Gollop to run Rostrevor, there wasn’t exactly a battle for the position, Robyn, came through by default. Her sisters stepped aside, leaving the sister with the appropriate temperament to take on the title in February 2006. This was a good choice- Robyn’s personality is spot on! Warm, engaging, and fun!

No Hard Feelings-'Everday is truly a new one and multi-tasking is no option, so it's never boring.' "I get to dabble in HR, marketing, accounts and so much more, a dynamic that suites my personality. And everyone on our team is competent and it allows me to be more flexible, finding balance."

Any early signs of 4th generation management... “Out of my three children, there is one who is a definite possibility.”

Attentive Staff, Exceptional Service

The staff, they are so lovely, and nothing is done without a personal touch, making it the best it can be. “I couldn’t have asked for a greater team or a better right hand than Debra," the assistant manager who has been with the Company for 20 years.

Having the ideal vacation location and personalised pampering is a recipe that only cooks up a few things, award winning service and repeat guests, considered family by the next trip.

From January to March each year Rostrevor Hotel hosts its’ over 25 years club, welcoming visitors back to the hotel, these are special guests who have their own room, with their names engraved on a custom-made, ceramic Earthworks plaque, featured all year round.

After staying at Rostrevor Hotel in Barbados, you’d be back too! There are very few times when life gets this good. Below are some recent guest reviews and of course Rostrevor looks forward to serving you.

Guest Reviews

Allan and I wanted to thank you all so very much for making our stay enjoyable. Loved the hotel and most especially the easy access to the beach.

Our children loved the open area, it felt like an extension of home to be able to sit on the steps and go down to the pool or beach at a whim, plus the kitchen gave us a nice option for easy meals and not to mention early breakfasts on the balcony with the most beautiful view. Your entire staff was so friendly and helpful... with all the places to stay in Barbados we hope to return your hotel in future. – unedited transcript. - end
