“ Babes, guess what! I went to Soothing Touch Spa today- I treated myself to a complete spa day for my birthday!" And the results were ... “'You’re absolutely glowing', from almost every other person, I've met since". I had heard a lot about this country-side spa and now the review was in from my very good and very selective friend. From my visit, if you’re looking to escape to an exotic, 'au naturale' spa in Barbados, then this is the one! Approximately 20 minutes drive from Bridgetown, heading south-east to a more remote, suburban locale, Kutch,12 Frere Pilgrim, exactly. By the time you drive down, the floral and palm fringed, private through fare to this Barbados spa, the feeling of beauty and inspiration sets in.
At the end, sits a charming, stone cottage, (French-country in style), glowing with warm hues from the suns rays, accented by metal lamps with soft lighting. The minute you see this, you’ll know you’re in the right spot! Soothing Touch Da Spa is set on the side of 4 1/2 acres of fertile land, it is surrounded by a variety of trees, exotic flowers and depending on the time of year, you may spot an unfamiliar bird.
The foyer, located just outside of the reception area, is breezy and cozily fitted with rustic, orange settees and potted palms, creating an intimate and tropical waiting area. In the reception room, besides a warm smile, you’ll appreciate classic-style, natural, hard wood floors. 
The reception desk, which is gracefully lined with vertically placed bamboo wood. And on the walls, intricate wooden portraits, created by the owner’s brother and printed portraits by Avark (local artist and fashion designer). The treatment area is an outdoor haven, in tropical foliage and partly covered with a canopy. With the trunk of a tree in the center. The aroma immediately stimulates your senses... you relax. While being serenaded by the wind blowing through the trees and the occasional twitter of birds, below, soothing music. This is where you'll have your manicure and pedicures. Steve says it best, “nature and being pampered are two beautiful things happening together." There is a colourful wooden deck leading to three rooms, called the cabins, where you'll have your body treatments.
By the way, if you opt for any sort of massage, at this Barbados spa. It is likely to be like no other massage you have ever had before.
Using warm Caribbean oils, Soothing Touch Da Spa, takes it up a notch, bringing you to a place you will not want to leave.

The inspiration behind this nature loving and Caribbean theme locale ? Steve Andrews, CEO and Master Therapist admitted that what I had hugely been taken in with, was only a sample of a true eco-friendly and Caribbean Spa Village to come. The project being approximately two years away. 
Obviously intrigued and a bit concerned that this tropical, Caribbean-glam spa was eventually going to go... Why a spa? How did it all start? And where the heck is it going? “Steve confessed, “I used to be a dangerous man between 1991 and 1999”. (Don’t worry, we’re not talking criminal). “I represented Barbados in karate for that time. I was aching and my karate partner sent me for a massage. After that, I was like WOW! I did the necessary training. I traveled the Caribbean to research spas and realized that there were a lot of spas in the Caribbean but not a lot of Caribbean in the spas."
Having shared this with three investors, Steve opened Soothing Touch Da Spa – a sample of what is his true Caribbean spa will look like.
The upcoming Caribbean Spa Village will be much more than a spa. It will offer a complete spa vacation to visitors and locals. It will have cottages (which may or may not have a time-share component), restaurants, conference facilities, etc. The ambiance will incorporate as much of the tradition, natural resources and rhythm of the Caribbean. Caribbean technicians, Caribbean decor, Caribbean made treatments etc. Stay tuned for more up dates on this Caribbean Spa Village, coming soon, including its exact location and progress.
